To celebrate the 10th anniversary of HK returning to China, RTHK and CCTV have decided to organise a "Shenzhen-HK youth evening gathering" on 1st July at Shenzhen's Window of the World. Yesterday a media conference was held and public announcements were made regarding the event's activities. RTHK's Lee Chai Tong indicated at the event, all HK singers that took part in performing "After returning for 10 years, there's still You" themesong will all attend the party. At the time, Andy Lau and Yundi Lee will perform together. And there will be lot's of mainland performances. The venue can hold an audience up to 6000-7000 people.

Date of birth is predicted to be June/July

Alan Tam and Hacken Lee both attended the media conference. Hacken was once again chased about whether or not he can announce his wife's pregnancy, and he joked that the date of birth is predicted to be June/July. He is adament that he is talking about his new album, not having a baby. Alan says that it was only a few days ago that he ate dinner with the husband and wife and was asked whether he felt Emily's figure had changed. Alan said that he was late there and had to leave early so that Emily was seated the entire time and he couldn't tell.

Alan had publicly told Hacken to check whether his wife was pregnant by using frogs. When the two met, Hacken asked Alan how to use frogs to test for pregnancy and pointed out that he only knew how to use iceblocks. Alan explained "In the past, when using frogs, if the frog called out then that was the indication that there was a pregnancy." Reporters asked Hacken if he could announce the good news. He said that as it was the return of HK's big day, then everyone shouldn't go off topic. When reporters suggested that because it was a big day then there should be a new album to celebrate with, Hacken exclaimed that the date of birth was to be June/July and insisted that he was referring to his new album. Reporters also pointed out that Hacken has gained weight recently but Hacken said that he was busy with his new album and did not gain weight. Alan couldn't help but laugh that Hacken wasn't answering the questions that were being asked.

Alan exposes Hacken's Freudian slip

Hacken admitted that he understood everyone was caring for him and everyday he would see little dogs near his place, giving him a sense of security. When it reached the public, Hacken revealed that a lot of people were asking about the progress of his new album and even Liza Wang has asked a few times whether his new album would be out soon. Alan joked and asked Hacken whether the new album will be cute and if it would have hands or feet. Hacken said that as long as Liza was happy, he would thank everyone for caring and when the new album was ready for release, he would publicly announce it to the world. He doesn't think he will make June, so it will probably hit the streets in July. Recently has his wife been afraid of going outside? Hacken said she wasn't. Alan revealed that a few days earlier he had dinner with the couple and when asked about Emily's figure, he was smart and said that on the night he was late there and had to leave early. This meant that he only saw Emily sitting down and could not see her figure. Has he felt that Emily's eating habits have changed? He said he didn't notice anything special and Hacken added "These days it's different. There's nothing that's "forbidden". Alan exposed that Hacken had made a definate Freudian slip.

Andy Lau & the crazy fan saga

[blurb] Most followers of HK news would have heard of "crazy Andy fan" Yang Lijian by now - if you havent (long story cut short), she's been obsessed with Andy Lau for more than half her life and her parents have helped her in her obsession, accruing much debt and much strain. On a recent trip to HK to meet Andy, Yang's father threw himself into the ocean citing inability to cope with the fact his daughter couldn't talk to Andy personally. Yang has now sued Andy, and has returned home without collecting her father's body...

Andy Lau has kept quiet on this matter but recently wrote a short statement to reply to the circus that's going on. Hacken also gets a mention in it, so I thought I'd put it up on the site:

"Recently a lot has happened. I've received calls from good friends. I particularly have to thank Alan (Tam), Hacken, 'third brother' (Michael Miu), Ah Sa and Ah Gil (Twins) etc...I know a lot of you take care of me. Of course there's also you, with 40+ pages of replies...I have read all of them! Though normally some of you dont visit or leave messages, you've dropped by to do that...i'm speechless in thanks.

Everyone relax, I'm OK...

A friend once told me if you cant figure out something, don't dwell on it, as it will figure itself out. Maybe later on I will understand. He also gave me these words:

[Many things should be left to fate
When they're over, you must face it with poise
In good times, one should be unconcerned
In bad times, one should be brave
There will always be ups and downs
You will understand when you've experienced it all]

I feel these words are meaningful, so I'm sharing them with you.

p.s- I know a lot of my media friends are very concerned too, and my staff have told me of the messages you've left. I know that a lot of people are hoping for a response from me, so I will take the chance to say a sincere thankyou to everyone. I do not have any personal response, everything has been said by my company. In the future I will also not have any personal response to this. It has been hard work for everyone."

Hacken doesn't dare compare with Andy

One is the music world's most popular male singer, the other is the tv industry's most popular female actress. Hacken Lee and Charmaine Sheh have been at TVB for more than 10 years and have been in contact with each other during one Miss HK program. Today the two have cooperated together filming the movie "Lady Iron Chef" and have got to know one another. After rising to "TV queen" status, Charmaine has been involved in endless rumours and even partner Hacken cannot help her. But Charmaine firmly believes that once one is doing their best, then no poisons can harm them.

In the new film "Lady Iron Chef", Hacken plays the rich, arrogant son of a large food corporation owner. Charmaine plays a master of cooking and the two end up falling in love. This was the first time filming with Charmaine for Hacken and he said that she was easy to get along with, professional and punctual and of course she was an artist but great acting skills. Recently, Charmaine has been involved in many rumours and when asked if Hacken was worried filming with her, he said protectively "The media is a fault for much of the news, and they are often not fair to her. I have never seen, nor feel that such things said by the media would involve Charmaine. We chat a lot throughout the day during work."

Hacken does not feature in many movies. He laughs "That's because I'm a singer. I only film if there is a suitable script. Actually I'm just curious, after knowing Wong Jing and Eric Tsang for over 10 years we mostly get together for fun and things but very rarely am I asked to film. They probably think over the past 10 or so years I've never been outstanding in acting." He's good friends with Andy Lau and in the music world there is a bit of friendly competition. But in the movie world, Hacken doesn't dare to try and become "film king" just as yet. He says "Andy had filmed about 80 movies before becoming king. That's too far off for me." When it comes to singing however, he has much more confidence "Even though I've received the best male singer award, I just pretend I haven't. I start over again, each year I want to win."

Andy Lau, Eason Chan and Hacken Lee Welcome in the New Pig Year

(photo: Hacken and Eason giving Andy red packets)

Music world's big idols Andy Lau, Eason Chan and Hacken Lee lion danced today, the first day of the Chinese New Year. They wished everyone a happy year and even hoped that all goes well for the magazine Oriental Daily (that did this interview). Both the married Eason and Hacken tried to get in first, trying to hand out red packets to Andy.

When it comes to singing, Andy, Eason and Hacken are right at home, but who knew that even with lion dancing they can be just as entertaining. Andy became the "big boss" ordering Eason and Hacken to lift up the lions head and give a lively performance.

Then Eason and Hacken became "the most popular fortune deity" (a play on the title of "the most popular male singer") giving Andy red packets. Andy first wished Hacken "I wish you a whole line of boys. I hope that you'll be father to a litte "Hacken" that is a beautiful and intelligent as Emily Lo." before wishing Eason "I hope on the road of music you will become more brilliant and popular.". Hacken and Eason both wished Andy "will find and wife soon and father some kids so that you can formally give out red packets" in unison. The three men chatted and joked with one another and it seems like the music world this year will be more prosperous than before.
