Lady Iron Chef scene

Picture: hacken and charmaine's one of many 'scary' scenes in new movie

The second film of the new year, "Lady Iron Chef", was released last week. The movie talks about a romance between leading actors Hacken Lee and Charmaine Sheh. One particular scene talks of wealthy Hacken being abducted and held to ransom and hidden in Mong Kok, and when he tries to escape, accidentally falls off the balcony of the building. As Charmaine rescues him by grabbing onto his legs, his pants fall off, leading him to reveal his boxer shorts whilst danglign in mid air. However Charmaine manages to drag him back into the apartment, adn the two of them meet in this way, starting their romantic relationship, with the joke that Hacken's underpants are very manly.

Hacken insisted on filming this scene himself, saying: "Although there's wires around my waist, looking down at the ground my heart was beating like crazy! It was lucky the director only asked for two takes. During the take I wore 5 pairs of underwear, so i definately wouldn't expose anything." Charmaine also praised Hacken's courage in filming this scene, saying he was very professional, and then poking fun at him and saying again that the brand of his boxer shorts was very 'manly'. Hacken retorted that it would probably be of a better quality than the instant noodles Charmaine cooked in the movie. Apparently Hacken and Charmaine have been acquaintances for a while but this is the first time they've acted together. Both promised that if the movie did well, they would shout dinner for all staff on set.

Hacken @ Wynners Concert

Last night's Wynners concert had many special guest appearances, including Hacken Lee, Chelsia Chan, Luo Jie Chang and his wife, and Teresa Carpio etc. Hacken ran on stage to sing the song Red Day with the 5 Wynners to a thunderous applause, after which Alan (who saw Chelsia Chan in teh audience) dragged her on stage to sing. As Chelsia was wearing a short dress, and had to climb over a security barrier to the stage, the scene was rather funny. Afterwards Chelsia praised the Wynners dancing.

Kelly Chen's most unforgettable red packet experience: at Hacken's concert

Every year Kelly Chen takes a week off at Chinese New Year to take a holiday to recharge, but this year she decided to stay in HK and spend some quality time with her family. On the first day of the New Year, I visit my mother's family and kow-tow to them. The children are then given lucky packets!

When talking about lucky packets, Kelly's biggest red packet was $HK10,000 from her mother, as she had bought many presents for her aunties that year. As for Kelly's most unforgettable red packet experience? She said that it was when she was guest performer at Hacken Lee's 2006 concert. She received a few hundred lucky packets whilst singing with him, and afterwards, Hacken told her to stay on stage to keep receiving lucky packets so he could keep singing! It was definately very funny and an experience she wont forget.

Rosaline Wong's 'close friends' in LV to watch Hacken's CNY performance

Picture: Hacken squatting and singing on stage, was dragged by housewives to take photos. To struggle would have made a scene. It's not surprising that Hacken is embarassed.

The atmosphere during Chinese New Years in America's gambling city (Las Vegas) was very lively. Yesterday (HK time), Las Vegas hotel Wynn held a banquet to welcome in the new spring, with Hacken Lee, Dao Lang and Rene Lau as performing guests. Hacken's performance won the applause of all 3000 guests present compared to Dao Lang receiving only silence, a marked difference of heaven and earth (Chinese saying). Also present was Henry Cheng, whose friendship with tycoon Joseph Lau was estranged when he became caught inbetween the affair of socialite Rosaline Wong and Joseph Lau [during which Rosaline claimed she had attempted suicide]. Henry and Joseph bumped into each other before the show but sat seprately away from one another, acting like strangers.

Las Vegas' Wynn hotel held a banquet at 8pm (12pm in HK) with 200 tables and about 3000 seated guests. The MCs for the night were Eric Tsang, Louie Yuen, Sherming Yiu and Cutie Mui. Singers performing included Hacken Lee, Dou Long and Rene Lau. Celebrities who came to watch included Cheng Yu Tung and his son Henry Cheng, Joseph Lau and girlfriend, Charles Chan and his wife, Choi Chi Ming and his wife, Kally Kwong, Natalie Ng, Jerry Lam, wife Lily Hong, etc.

Dou Long sadly gets no applause

Henry Cheng and Joseph Lau became estranged over Rosaline Wong last year, and both were present at this performance but largely ignored each other. Henry Cheng's father and Joseph Lau kept their distance, whilst Henry Cheng sat by himself, talking with other friends. As for the performances, first up was Dao Lang who sang his "2002's first snow" except the response was cold with no applause from the audience. It appeared the audience would rather to take pictures of the New Year backdrop behind him than with Dao Lang himself. During the song and pauses, all that could be heard was the sound of people cutting up lobsters on their plates. So after the second song, Eric rushed onstage to annouce that it was time to draw for prizes. That caught the audience's attention. The disappointed Dao Lang left the stage quietly.

Hacken's fans go wild

As Hacken stepped up on stage, he received a huge welcome, completely different to that received by Dao Lang. Once the housewives saw Hacken, they rushed forward, crazily screaming and taking photos. Hacken squatted down and seeing that, some housewives flew to the side of the stage and grabbed onto his pants legs to take photos. During the photos being taken with the housewives, the embarassed Hacken could only be good and not move whilst letting his fans take their fill of photos. Hacken put much hard work into performing his 3 songs, including 一生不變 - never changing in this lifetime, 合久必婚 - inevitable marriage and 天水、圍城 - City surrounded by heaven and water. The audience clapped loudly and there were female fans that gave him flowers.

Perhaps seeing the the audience's response to Dao Lang, when Rene Lau came out she walked off the stage to shake hands with the audience. When she got to Henry Cheng's father (tycoon Cheng Yu Tung) , he didn't even look at her, a complete difference to his appreciation of a sexier 'leopard-girl' act last night. After Rene got back on stage, she used Mandarin to announce "Last night I went to the casino to gamble. And I lost over US$200."

Andy Lau, Eason Chan and Hacken Lee Welcome in the New Pig Year

(photo: Hacken and Eason giving Andy red packets)

Music world's big idols Andy Lau, Eason Chan and Hacken Lee lion danced today, the first day of the Chinese New Year. They wished everyone a happy year and even hoped that all goes well for the magazine Oriental Daily (that did this interview). Both the married Eason and Hacken tried to get in first, trying to hand out red packets to Andy.

When it comes to singing, Andy, Eason and Hacken are right at home, but who knew that even with lion dancing they can be just as entertaining. Andy became the "big boss" ordering Eason and Hacken to lift up the lions head and give a lively performance.

Then Eason and Hacken became "the most popular fortune deity" (a play on the title of "the most popular male singer") giving Andy red packets. Andy first wished Hacken "I wish you a whole line of boys. I hope that you'll be father to a litte "Hacken" that is a beautiful and intelligent as Emily Lo." before wishing Eason "I hope on the road of music you will become more brilliant and popular.". Hacken and Eason both wished Andy "will find and wife soon and father some kids so that you can formally give out red packets" in unison. The three men chatted and joked with one another and it seems like the music world this year will be more prosperous than before.

Lady Iron Chef CNY dinner

Date: 15-2-07

(Picture: Hacken and Zhou Chung watch Charmaine cook dumplings

In the movie Lady Iron Chef is a scene where male lead Hacken's pants fall off. When asked about the scene, female lead Charmaine replied that she didn't see anything, and it was Hacken that was in danger, having to do wire scenes for a whole night. When asked if she would try for Best Actress (movies) award after winning Best TV Actress, she stated: "this is a very long way away. I hope to film more movies because they're heaps of fun, especially the atmosphere when filming comedies."

(I'm not translating the rest as it's not relevant to Hacken...that and the fact i've got to rush to work now! But the rest of the article was just about Charmaine =])

Hacken finds it difficult filming movies where his 'pants fall off'

Before the premiere of "Beautiful Cooking" stars celebrated with a traditional Chinese New Year celebration, where boss Wong Jing distributed many red packets as prizes. Amongst those present were Hacken, Yuan Chau, Tat Ming, Zhou Chung, Lau Yeung, etc. Everyone waited for Charmaine to come from the TVB CNY dinner before events started, with the game making 'tong yuen' (glutinous rice balls) competition with new actor Lau Yeung. Hacken, Yuen Chau and Zhou Sheng were asked to judge the competition, but they were busy trying out the sharks fin and asked for a break for them to finish the sharks fin before they went on stage.

The Yumiko Incident

The movie will premiere on March 8th, which is also International Women's Day. Male lead Hacken said that the most lasting impression from this movie, apart from his strange wig, is that it's his first time where his pants fell off on the silver screen. Initially when he saw the script he couldn't bring himself to do the scene - however, he then realized that as an actor he shouldn't have any burdens about this, so he decided to lock away his "idol singer persona" for this movie.

The scene where Hacken's pants fall off talks of Hacken falling from the balcony to the street, with Charmaine grabbing his legs in midair trying to save him, but pulling off his pants in the process. This scene is very similar to Yumiko's accident (at the TVB charity show), to which he replied: "There is no relation between what's in the script and what happened to her". Yumiko, who didn't appear last night, is also in this movie, but Hacken said that he hadn't talked about this scene with her.

In order to avoid unnecessary exposure, Hacken took all precautions before hand, wearing two pairs of underwear as well as boxer shorts. When it came time to film the scene, staff on the set also gave him two pairs of boxer shorts, so when audiences see this scene, he's in fact wearing five pairs of underwear! However he is still slightly embarassed: at the end of the day, he's still an introvert.

He said: "I'm not filming a martial arts film, I don't know why everytime I film a movie there's always a "wire" scene! That scene took an entire night to film, and my pants had to keep falling off, the feeling was very strange and not comfortable, the only time that would normally happen is if i've got food poisoning! (Was Charmaine uncomfortable with the scene?) I don't think she was, and it's easier just to not talk about it! Actually, it wasn't that bad, I was wearing so many layers of underwear."

Topic then changed to filming when crew cleared a street in Mong Kok to film a scene, to which Hacken said he hasn't had a chance to walk the streets of Mong Kok so happily, and that this was a test for them. He said that there wasn't a single incident where they were "asked after" (sworn at) on the street, indicating people were aware who they were and this made him happy. The unhappiest thing for him during the entire filming was that he became ill, and even today he still has a slight cough.

Unsure if he's hosting "Minutes to Fame"

Later, reporters asked if Hacken would continue to host "Minutes to Fame", and he replied honestly that he didn't know. Hacken said that if fate let him do it, he would do it, but at the moment TVB was still considering its options. Perhaps TVB has many hosts in mind, and he was only one of the potential choices. Regarding the rumors that TVB would only choose either him or Joey Leung and not both of them, Hacken once again indicated that he had no idea. Hacken stated that it is like the initial Minutes to Fame series: initially, he didn't have time to host, but at the end he found he could do it, and both him and Joey ended up "picking up the job" after someone else.

Hacken goes to Gambling City in New Year to make money

Yesterday, Hacken, Janice and Kevin Kwan attended the "Let's build a better quality building" event (I hope I translated it right).

In the Chinese New Year, Hacken will be going overseas to make money. He will be performing on stage at Las Vegas, along with Dou Long and Lau Yek Ying. There will be a show on 3rd day of the Chinese New Year and he will be back in Hong Kong on the 7th or 8th to watch the Wynner's concert. When asked if he will take his family with him overseas, Hacken said that at most he will take his wife. He also says that he prefers to spend Chinese New Years in Hong Kong.

This is the first New Years, that Hacken will have to give out red packets since he's married and even though he will not be back in Hong Kong until the 7th or 8th of the New Year, he will still hand them out regardless. He doesn't mind as he has been handing them out before he was married anyway and will not, because of the rises and falls of the Hong Kong economy, give more or less.

Every year Hacken invites his colleagues to his place to celebrate. Once, he invited them to his new house and unfortunately Shawn Yue got so drunk he threw up all over the floor. When asked if Hacken got Shawn drunk, Hacken replied "No it wasn't me, it was Emme Wong.".

Not afraid of management changes within Univeral Music Group

Talking about the management changes within Universal Music Group and its effects, Hacken indicates that its effects are unknown as of yet. "I've been through a lot of changes, even through changing bosses. But this time it's just switching a few people around so it's not that big a deal. Many of my colleagues have worked together before. The year that I went from Polygram to Star was a really big change, yet everyone stil got past it. I've decided to continue with Universal, there's just a few more things to sort out."

Hacken Lee tells about Emme Wong getting Shawn Yue Drunk

In the Chinese New Year, Hacken will be performing on stage in Las Vegas. Other performing artists include Dao Lang and Rene Lau. Hacken's wife Emily will also be there.

Hacken admits he's very traditional and likes to spend New Years in Hong Kong. He recalls "One year, I invited all my colleagues back to my new house for dinner. And then Shawn got really drunk and threw up all over the floor!" When asked if anyone kept getting Shawn to drink, Hacken responded with "Emme did it!".

This year is the first year that Hacken is married and will have to hand out red packets. When asked how much he managed to receive, Hackne said that it was more or less the same as last year. He just has to prepare more red packets to give out this year as he will be giving out two instead of one.

Tony Leung Chiu Wai, the ambassador of Hong Kong's Entertainment Expo for 3 years in a row, has just helped promote a short film by Eric Kot Man Fai. It will be shown in many of Hong Kong's cinemas and outdoor screens. Hacken @ JSG (24-1-07)

hacken at the recent JSG show singing princess prince. Audio's quite out of sync in the beginning...sorry!
